Best Graduation Project Award (May 2017)

Graduation Project students under the supervision of Dr. Ahmad Saad won the best project award for the Civil Engineering Department in the Australian College of Kuwait. Students in this project worked for two semesters on the design of a prototype pedestrian bridge of 20 meters long and the construction of a scaled model (one-tenth) of the same bridge. Students also instrumented some of the bridge members with strain gauges to be able to read member forces when load is applied on the bridge deck. They were able to accurately estimate pedestrian weights as they stood on the bridge during the Graduation Project Exhibition Ceremony on May 14th 2017 in the Crown Plaza Hotel in Kuwait.

Best Graduation Project Award (December 2017)

Students Huda Al-Qahtani and Hebah Mohamad received the Civil Engineering Department Best Graduation Project Award for the Fall 2017 semester. Under the supervision of Dr. Ahmad Saad, students designed, constructed, and tested four concrete specimens to evaluate the use of Carbon Fiber Reinforcement usage for different application. The first two specimens were beams and the second two specimens were retaining walls. The testing took place in the Materials and Structures Lab of KISR in Kuwait. Graduation Projects in the Australian College of Kuwait is composed of two phases, planning and implementation, each of which takes a full semester.
